The Demon – Yogi – Goblin Book Test

By that title one might think I was kidding about this but there have been so many fanciful titles applied to such effects that I couldn't resist the urge to write the above. This method and presentation has been a great favorite of mine for homes and spots where it could be presented in an apparently impromptu fashion. Many times one is out for an evening and the opportunity arises when a book may be glanced at, either from the table or bookcase. At the same time one is alone quite often for a few minutes when such a test may…

A Card In Transit!

This is an exceptionally clean method for having a chosen and marked card vanish from the deck and then removed from the performer's pocket by the spectator himself. The fact that it is marked and seen in the pack at the very last minute makes it confusing to say the least. It won't be necessary to detail the effect so we shall explain the method and the reader can follow it with cards in hand. There is one slightly faked card and the accompanying illustration explains or shows the difference between the pips at either end. The card, it will…

A Real Psychic Card Test

This is the simplest of the simple in method but a moment's thought followed by an actual tryout will show its effectiveness. Use two ordinary slates and a stacked deck. After a card effect using the deck if desired, state that you will prove beyond doubt that a card's identity can be transmitted by thought alone. Spread the deck face down on the table or floor. A spectator freely takes any card he wishes and allows no one to see it. He is told that if his selection is a picture or face card to return it and take another…

Hallucination

This effect is totally new from the audience's point of view and that is something to be looked for in this day when effects are pretty difficult to evolve. The performer states that very few people have a retentive mind and remember what they actually see. He states that in every accident case, there are contradictory stories about what actually happened. To prove his point he takes a deck from its case and shuffles. Passing to a spectator and holding the deck very openly and fairly on his left hand he asks this party to lift up the corner and…

The Devil’s Four Aces

For those who want a clean and showy method for doing the four ace trick in front of audiences I offer my conception of the age old problem that never seems to die. Duplicates of three of the aces are used and these are long cards. Have them in the right coat pocket with a rubber band. The deck is unprepared and can be used for anything else. Start by handing deck to a spectator with the request that he take out the four aces and mark them. While he is thus occupied, palm out the three duplicates and add…

The Finders

This effect differs with the size of the audience but in each case the performer appears to have perfect control of the pasteboards. An ordinary deck is shown and riffled. A spectator inserts his finger or a knife into the pack and removes the card stopped at. There is no forcing. His card is replaced upon the deck. Two cards are now removed and shown. The selected card is cut to the center of the pack. Performer takes the pack and the two cards just shown and states that he will thrust them reversed into the squared up deck. Suppose the two…
