Utility Routine

REQUIRED A "single ender" deck of cards with 26 duplicates of one card cut short and with matching backs. For sake of clearness let us suppose that the duplicate cards are Aces of Diamonds. PREPARATION Stack the deck in your favorite order such as Si Stebbins or Eight Kings being sure that the back designs of the deck are all pointing in one direction. Cut the cards so that the Aces of Diamonds is on top, and remove it. Now cut off 25 cards and place them in the upper right vest pocket. Reverse the order of the remaining 26…

Roxy Theatre, New York City, October 28, 1939 Time : 12 minutes. Reviewed by Wm. Henderson. Martin has changed his act quite a bit since seen here last. Omega Card Act

Take heed magi! The card routine given herein is one which, I honestly believe, can almost revolutionize the presentation of card effects. Followed by many such a practice undoubtedly would wreck havoc with tricks of classic origin. It's a case of condensing into a few minutes of time the various card effects of which past masters have made features separately and which lasted from 5 to 15 minutes. This routine should not run over 12 minutes. I sincerely offer it as a routine worthwhile. -- The Editor When I titled this as a card "act" I meant it in practically…

Sefalaljia

(Editor's note: I honestly believe that this one man miniature spirit cabinet routine is far beyond, in merit and effectiveness, anything yet conceived. Certainly the manifestations are out of the ordinary and Mr. James has managed to use several magical principles in a way not originally intended. The absence of complicated preparation in the cabinet will be found quite refreshing. The routine herein should be put into immediate use by many magi.) It is the firm belief of many people that the walls of a room retain the impressions of violent or unusual incidents that have taken place within. People…

Modern Magic Program No. Seven — Unveiling Mysteries of the Telepathic Mind

Dunninger "Unveiling Mysteries Of The Telepathic Mind" Fisher Theatre, Detroit, Michigan, October 11, 1939. Time : 1 hour 15 minutes. Reviewed by Stewart James. All apparatus is on a nondescript table covered with a black cloth. A swivel office-chair completes the stage setting. In his opening remarks, Dunninger asserts that he will give several demonstrations of his ability to read another's mind. Although it will be necessary for him to go down into the audience at various times, he wished to have it distinctly understood that no part of his presentation was performed there. He would always return to the…

Suggested Programs No. Three – A Magical Club Routine

Effects for this Jinx Club Program number eight in all, and the act can be carried in a not so large suitcase. I say "suitcase" even though without the carrying of a frame for the Finale Trick, on which to display the clock face, only a small doctor's grip would be necessary to transport the mysteries. However, the Finale Trick gives a rather flashy and strong finish, and is perfectly practical as well as being a not in use effect. The entire act is suitable for clubs, lodges, and homes where the audience is in front. It runs approximately thirty…
